I was waiting for the first of my Aeronef ships to arrive from Brigade Models - and they turned the order around very quickly. Its a starter pack - British vs German - and a good way to start you off (as you have forces to fight each other but are not overwhelmed by the numbers involved (so they should be painted up quickly then give the basis to build a fleet upon.
The stands the ships come with are ok but I wanted to give the impression of flight (i.e. being higher than an inch above the table). So I crafted my solution - acrylic tubes which slot neatly over the existing stand and at the other I superglued small flat head tacks.
Each model has a magnet glued to the bottom which attaches to said tack but can be removed for easy storage. Also you don't then need a stand per model owned but simply enough for the scenario you're currently playing. The tubes were custom made for inner thickness and can be easily sawed in half.
I deliberately cut some at different lengths to simulate the 'nefs flying at slightly different heights. The rules make no account for height (it assumes that to fire at an opponent you have to be on the same level that they are).
So - next stop will be to start painting the two sides up. More to follow...
